Art III A/B Ceramics (2 Semesters)
Description:
2 Semester Class
Beginning Ceramics is a hands-on studio art class in which students explore 3-dimensional design using clay. Hand-building techniques include the age-old methods of pinch pot construction, coiling and slab building. Students will also begin to master the potter's wheel. Projects include both functional and purely decorative works of art. Applying color through glazing, and kiln firing, are additional aspects of student learning. The history of ceramics in varying cultures will also be explored. Rising 11th or 12th Graders.
