Our Campus Ministry team is dedicated to providing experiences that bring Saintsmen into contact with the global Church as well as to dedicated service for the poorest of our world.
Our biggest highlight has been leading students to the global World Youth Days (WYD) hosted by the Holy Father, as well as the Augustinian Youth Encounters (AYE) that occur the week before or after the WYDs. Since 2011 we have gone on pilgrimage to the Madrid WYD of 2011, the Rio de Janiero and Sao Paolo WYD and AYE of 2013, the Krakow and Prague WYD and AYE of 2016, and the Panama City and David/Tole WYD and AYE 2018. Preparations are underway to again visit the Holy Father for the WYD which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal in 2023. The Augustinian Order will likely host an AYE in conjunction with that event.
During the annual January intersession, we host two different service trips. One trip goes to Italy to visit important religious and cultural markers as well as Augustinian Heritage sites. The students on this trip also serve for several days in at the Augustinian monastery in San Gimignano, a UNESCO protected Tuscan hilltop town in which the Augustinians have served since the 1400s. The other trip goes to Guatemala, where Saintsmen serve at the San Lucas Mission as well as visit Antigua and other historic sites in the country.
Lastly, our Christian Service Director Mrs. Jessica Brophy, OSA hosts an annual Easter break service trip to a different American city. This trip is open only to Sophomores and Juniors. During the trip, students visit local colleges, participate in a daily service project, and partake in the sights of the city. Past cities have included Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, New Orleans, and New York. This year we are in the initial planning stages of a trip to Seattle.
Please contact the school chaplain or service director for more information on any of the trips and pilgrimages which we host.
