St. Augustine High School
This school year, Saints will be going through the accreditation process with the Western Catholic Education Associations (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). These two groups ensure that current thinking and research-based knowledge about teaching and learning, that includes spiritual goals, focus on student success in meeting expect school wide learning results (ESLR’s), that is, what each student should know, understand and be able to do upon graduation.
A team of five experienced educators will visit our campus from March 25-March 28, 2012, whose job will be to ensure that Saints has defined its purpose through the defined expected school wide learning results (ESLR’s). In addition, they will investigate that curriculum and instruction, support for student personal and academic growth, and that our resource management and development supports high achievement for all students. In addition, they will investigate whether or not the alignment of a long-range school wide action plan to the school’s areas of greatest need supports high achievement for all our students and that we have the capacity to monitor and implement a school wide action plan.
The Saints community has been preparing for this visit since our last school visit in 2006. We have reported to both of these agencies our yearly progress and look forward not only to the visit but the overall process as it keeps us focused on our philosophy and mission. For further information, please feel free to contact Mr. Tom Cudal or Mr. Christian da Luz, co-chairs of the WCEA/WASC Accreditation Process for St. Augustine High School.
