The Saints golf team has been a perpetual contender for the league championship and over the last 30 years has won more than 80% of their matches. Our golfers have won one State Championship (2005), one Southern California Championship, 2 CIF Championships, and have also been CIF runner-up 4 times. The Saints golf team has participated in the full field San Diego CIF Championship 30 years in a row heading into the 2017 season. With the graduated Teddy Oitzman now on the defending NCAA Champion Oregon Ducks team and Robert Case now golfing for the University of Redlands Bulldogs, our four returning varsity lettermen will have to step up their games if the Saints golf team wants to return to the top of the Western League. Led by senior three year lettermen Haytham Yousif, Tyler Whittaker, and Aidan Clement plus first year senior letterman Matthew Pins, our team gained great experience in 2016 by playing at the Champions Invitational in Palm Springs as well as in the San Diego Country Club High School Invitational. Looking to fill in the rest of the varsity roster is a large group of players who are excited for the opportunity to compete as Saints golfer and who have gained much experience through both junior varsity and varsity matches last year. Last year’s team was consistently ranked amongst the top 10 teams in San Diego County by scoring average and hopes to build a stronger overall team this season through greater depth throughout the roster. To get tuned up for CIF playoffs, our team will play in over 20 varsity matches and will serve as the host of the 5th Annual San Diego Country Club High School Invitational; this event is held at one of the most prestigious venues in San Diego and features eight of the top high school teams in the county. Please read our monthly newsletters to keep up with all the golf team activities as they occur. For more information contact Coach Tom Isaak.
