Freshmen Parent/Son Chastity Event

Description:

Dear Freshmen Parents and Guardians,

By itself a Saints education promises to be a rich one. Still, there are learning experiences we believe are more reflective by nature and better presented in the presence of parents who are the primary educators of their sons. Delving into chastity, especially its role in teenage boys’ lives and in the individual vocations to which God is calling each of them, is one such experience.

To assist families, we have planned a program for freshmen and their parents that explores issues of sexuality and chastity from the perspective of Catholic teachings. The Parent/Son Program has been designed to initiate an ongoing conversation in each Saintsman’s family about the meaning, value, and practice of chastity. The Freshmen-Only Program will serve as a follow-up where a faculty and senior panel will answer pre-selected questions related to chastity, sexuality, and respect for women.

This Parent/Son Program will be held Saturday, March 30. We will begin with a light breakfast at 8:45 am. Presentations and Mass will follow, concluding at 11:00 am. There is no cost to this event and all Freshmen are strongly encouraged to be present for this program.

Both parents are encouraged to accompany their son to the Parent/Son Program. We do ask that at least one parent or guardian be with your boy to lend the support and guidance that only comes from the family. As a special bonus for your sons, all freshmen class religion teachers have announced that they are offering extra credit for attendance at this event. Your RSVP is requested by March 22 on the Saints website. If you have any questions you may contact Michael Jezewak or my administrative assistant, Karene Evenson (619) 764-5515.

This is an important event. Seldom do young people have an opportunity to explore such intimate issues from a Catholic perspective with the support and guidance of their parents. We hope that it will be a spiritually fruitful experience for our Saintsmen.

In the Spirit of Catholic Education,

Mr. James Horne
