Jeremy Johnson Recognized as 2008 National Merit Commended Student

Allied Gardens resident, Jeremy Johnson, a senior at St. Augustine High School, was recently recognized as a 2008 National Merit Commended Student. He placed among the top five percent of more than 1.4 million students who entered the nationwide competition.

“When you compare his achievement with the sheer number of students Jeremy competed against nationally that’s when it hits you as to how remarkable his achievement is,” said James Horne, principal at St. Augustine High School. “His family, the school and the community are proud of his success.”

St. Augustine High School, in the historic neighborhood of North Park in central San Diego, is a Catholic, college preparatory secondary school for young men from grades 9-12. The school has an enrollment of approximately 700 students from the greater San Diego and Tijuana areas with a rich ethnic and racial mix. Saints is administered and staffed by the Augustinians and dedicated lay persons. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
