For the first time since Notre Dame Academy opened
its doors in September 2005, eight students from Notre Dame Academy
participated in St. Augustine High School’s Math Field Day
on Dec. 8 under the supervision of teacher Cort Peters. The three
seventh graders and five eighth graders participate in four events:
Mad Hatter, Chalk Talk, tandem and Jeopardy. Seventh grader s Daniela
Camilleri and Brendan Pottier placed third in the two-person tandem
Contest, with seventh-grader John Lee placing in third in the Mad
Hatter Marathon. John Lee and brother, eight-grader Luke Lee, took
first place in a fiercely-fought Math Jeopardy Game, based on the
television game show.
The Academy is run by Sisters from the Order Union-Chretienne de
Saint Chaumond from France. The school provides an education for
the future, rooted in tradition. Faith formation, computer science,
music, physical education, and art instruction are provided for
all students. The new facilities, as well as small class size, are
added benefits to the excellent curriculum.
Although the primary language of the school is English, beginning
in preschool, French and Spanish instruction is provided to encourage
trilingual skills and set the tone for a global education and curriculum
is catholic based, all students are welcome through a practice of
non-discrimination.
Notre Dame Academy is located at 4345 Del Mar Trails
Road (just off the Carmel Valley Rd. exit on I-56).
