The St. Augustine Cross Country program has been one of the most successful in the county over the past 25 years.  Under the leadership of the Dean of San Diego Cross Country, Jerry Downey, the team has accumulated 8 League Championships, CIF Championships in 92, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, and 2005.  The team also was CIF Runner-up in 71, 91, 93, and 2003.  There has also been countless All-League and All-CIF award winners.

Cross Country takes place in the fall season of the year with most runners pulling double duty with Track and Field as well.

The Varsity team has placed in the top 10 in the State Meet 11 times and has produced such All-Americans as Paul Greer, Mark Hauser, Marco Anzures, Kyle Suarez, and Marine Corp Marathon Champion Sean Barrett.
