READING:
Developing in students a love of reading is one of the main missions of the school library media program. ‘The right book for the right child at the right time’ is still a mantra for school librarians. Of course, now, we expand that to include the right media, right web sites, etc.

Folklore and Mythology These are full texts of the folk tales and myths from many countries, regions and cultures, presented in many different versions. They are organized alphabetically, by title and subject, and are presented in three lengthy pages: Folk and Mythology Electronic Texts, Folk and Fairy Tale Links, and Germanic Myths, Legends, and Sagas. This collection was edited and/or translated by Professor D. L. Ashliman, formerly of the University of Pittsburgh.

Madison’s High School Reading Report has some valuable info on reading and adolescents.

Poetry Daily - This site provides a new poem for every day of the year. Poems tend to be from contemporary poets. They are arranged in a continuous timeline index. Some of the poetry is for mature readers. A brief biographical sketch of each poet is included as a link at the end of the poem, along with a link to the publisher of the original printed source of the poem.

Representative Poetry On-Line This collection of the great poets of the English language includes about 2,500 English poems by 403 poets. Time periods range from Caedmon, in the Old English period, to the work of today's living poets. Poetry has been selected with editorial comments by members of the Department of English at the University of Toronto from 1912 to 1996. Included is a collection of criticism, both in verse and prose form. The collection is indexed for access by: poet, title, date, keyword, and first line. A timeline and glossary are included.
