Academic Study Associates offers College Prep, Cultural Immersion & College Admission Seminars

Academy of Art University (San Francisco) - Pre-Collegiate Summer Art Experience
Six-week intensive program offers up to four classes, twice a week for two hours and 50 minutes on either Mon./Thu. or Tue./Fri. A glimpse into college life and helps determine if art & design is the right choice.

Adventure Ireland
Cultural lessons incorporate an interesting mix of Irish history, myth, and legend. Campers can choose to engage in various daily cultural workshops including Gaelic language, history of Ireland, Irish music, Irish literature, genealogy, and Irish customs. The Art Institutes Summer Studio Workshop June 24-27, 2008
The week-long workshops involve working with a team in your field of interest to get a glimpse of what it’s like to be an advertising executive, culinary professional, interior designer, Web site or video game designer, industrial designer, fashion designer or a graphic designer. Students have the opportunity to learn how to: design sets, costumes and props; develop an ad campaign and create promotional materials, Web sites and interactive games; and cater for large groups of people. Programs vary by location. Field trips and evening social activities are available so there is plenty of time to relax and make friends. Boston University Summer Challenge Program Session 1: June 15-27, Session 2: July 6-18, Session3: July 27 - August 8
Boston University Summer Term offers two exciting residential programs that will give you an exciting head start on your future—the High School Honors Program (6 weeks) and the Summer Challenge Program (three 2-week sessions.) Boston University High School Honors Program
Also worth researching is the honors summer program available from June 29 to August 8, 2008. For juniors, this program is available for college credit and is offered concurrently with the program listed above. See a Boston Red Sox game, follow the Freedom Trail, eat New England chowder and be a Boston University student as well as a Boston resident. Boston University College of Communication – July 7 to August 8, 2008
The Institute for Television, Film & Radio Production (ITRP) is offering a five-week program to explore various aspects of multimedia communication. An intensive workshop-style program, it is designed to for hands-on media education at the high school level. This is a great opportunity for Saintsmen who want to create a portfolio of their Institute work for admission offices. Rolling admissions so apply early. Brown University - Leadership Institute for High School Students
The Pre-College Summer@Brown allows exceptional high-school students to experience what life is like on an Ivy League campus. We offer a number of different Pre-college programs from late June through early August each year. Go to www.brown.edu/summer for details.

California College of the Arts - Pre-College Summer ’07 - June 30 to July 25, 2008.
The summer Pre-College Program is an inspiring opportunity for high school students to study art or creative writing in an art-school setting while earning three college credits. Participants immerse themselves in a college-level curriculum and become part of a creative community, meeting and working with other talented, serious students from diverse backgrounds. The Cambridge Tradition, Cambridge University -July 6 to August 3, 2008.
This is a superb program where you can be a student on Cambridge’s campus. This pre-college program is designed to immerse students in two academic subjects or creative arts, while taking advantage of the myriad cultural resources and advantages of a renowned university such as Cambridge. The Carleton Liberal Arts Experience for SOPHOMORES
Carleton College, Northfield, MN, offers a great opportunity for 50 students to experience the benefits of the liberal arts while investigating African American experiences within higher education. Catholic University of America - Experiences in Architecture June 16 to July 3, and July 7 to 25, 2008.
An intense three-week workshop for students interested in architecture or other design-related fields. Students are exposed to both the academic and the professional sides of the architecture arena, as the city of Washington, D.C., becomes their classroom. Central Washington University
Summer is beautiful in Washington State. You can take classes in the Yakima River area. Imagine yourself hiking along the Manastash Ridge or in the Cascades Mountain, biking on the John Wayne Trail, camping in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, or fly fishing and rafting on the Yakima River. Colgate University-Eastern U.S. Music Camp June 29 to July 26, 2008.
For ages l0 through 19, the music camp is an opportunity to expand your musical studies.

The College of William and Mary offers Pre-Collegiate Summer Program

Colorado College Summer Programs
Our pre-college programs are dedicated to providing academic opportunities for high school students interested in higher education. Columbia University, New York, The Barcelona Experience (and other programs)
Many opportunities to study at this prestigious Ivy League university, but the Study Abroad summer program, The Barcelona Experience in Spain is one in which participants examine the history, art, and urban development of Barcelona, Spain. Offered in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, the program gives students the opportunity to experience college life while living in a foreign city. Application deadline is April 4. Cornell Summer College in Inthaca, N.Y.
Touted as one of the most highly regarded programs of its kind, Cornell University offers several three and six week programs for future sophomores, juniors and seniors. Build confidence in writing and study skills workshops and college admission sessions or pursue areas in political philosophy, psychology, writing or business communications. Various deadlines for the different programs. The Research Apprenticeship in Biological Sciences is March 12. Architecture is April 4. May 2 is the deadline for most programs. C.0.S.M.O.S. - California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science
The mission of COSMOS is to motivate the most creative minds of the new generation of prospective scientists, engineers and mathematicians who will become leaders for California, the nation, and the world. The program aims to create a community of students who participate in and contribute to an intensive academic experience delivered by distinguished educators and scholars. 4 week residential summer enrichment program held at 4 UC campuses statewide (UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis). George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Summer Scholars Pre-College Program for High School Juniors
From mid-June to August 2008, savor the history, arts and culture of a new place in exciting Washington, D.C. and earn college credit while you are in high school. The GW Summer Scholars program offers study programs for academically motivated high school students. Whether debating the origins of the Arab- Israeli conflict, exploring world cultures in socio-cultural anthropology, or testing the effective use of biometrics for the Department of Homeland Security, the program draws upon the outstanding academic resources of The George Washington University and the wealth of cultural and educational opportunities unique to Washington, D.C., to provide an extraordinary, one of-a kind academic experience. Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. -Summer Programs for High School Students.
Five programs are available during June, July and August. Students in the Summer Programs can choose from American Politics & Public Affairs, Summer College for High School Students, High School Gateway to Business, International Relations for High School Students, or College Prep Program. They attend regular Summer School college classes with college students and will be treated as such in the classroom. Harvard Secondary School Summer Program - 4 week and 8 week programs, June 23 to August 15.
Secondary school students take college courses for college credit. They choose from among 200 Harvard Summer School courses in 45 liberal arts fields. Many courses are taught by Harvard faculty who teach the same courses to Harvard undergraduates during the academic year. Credits earned are recorded on an official Harvard transcript and are transferable toward a future undergraduate degree at most colleges and universities. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors are offered an extraordinary chance to sample college on this famous campus. Students from all over the world attend this summer program. Innerspark, California State Summer School for the Arts
This is an intensive month-long program led by top creative professionals that will give you training to make it as an artist in animation, creative writing, dance, film/video, music, theatre of the visual arts. Iowa State University Pre-College for Talented and Gifted Students
Experience life in the Midwest at a Big Twelve school in Ames, IA. where an accelerated summer program awaits you. Referred to as the Cy-Tag Voyages of the Mind program, the summer session has competitive admission. Test scores, strong GPAs and interest in challenging yourself are required. Johns Hopkins University Pre-College Program and Discover Hopkins Programs
June 30 to August1, 2008. The Johns Hopkins Pre-College Program and Discover Hopkins Programs are your chance to put Hopkins to the test before applying to college. You’ll get an opportunity to see if Hopkins feels right for you, and we’ll get to know you better, too. The Junior Statesman Summer School
The Junior Statesmen Summer School offers a challenging, dynamic academic experience for students with a passion for politics and government. Each summer, 1500 outstanding high school students converge on the campuses of Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Georgetown, and Northwestern Universities to immerse themselves in politics and debate. Landmark College offers Summer Classes for Students with Learning Differences
Landmark is the leading college for students with learning disabilities and AD/HD. Located in beautiful Vermont, Landmark offers a three week program for high school students. This program is designed to build the skills of high school students with learning differences or AD/HD through coursework, activities, experiential learning and development of self-understanding and self-advocacy courses. Loyola University Chicago - Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars

The Marine Technology Society: Summer Internship Program
Six week summer experience for motivated students hosted by a corporate sponsor. Students will be provided with a hands-on science/technology experience, building important scientific, technical, and employment skills under the direction of a workplace mentor. MITES (Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science) at M.I.T. June 18, 2008 - August 2, 2008.
MITES(Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science) is a rigorous six-week residential, academic enrichment summer program for promising high school juniors who are interested in studying and exploring careers in science, engineering, and entrepreneurship. Michigan Math and Science Scholars - High School Summer Program June 29 to July 11, 2008 and July 13 to July 25, 2008. A program designed to expose high school students to current developments and research in the sciences and to encourage the next generation of researchers and discoverers to develop and retain a love of mathematics and science. Features small 15-student classes taught by University of Michigan professors as well as other outstanding instructors from around the world. National Student Leadership Conference, Summer & Fall Programs
Go to www.nslcleaders.org where you can enroll online. The programs are offered in a number of cities including Washington D. C., New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. Several begin in mid June. Share experiences in international diplomacy, medicine and health care, congressional policy and politics, law, business and commerce.

The New York Film Academy
Our high school summer camps (Ages 14 - 17) are designed for students with little or no previous filmmaking, acting, or animation experience. They are intensive, short term courses that fully immerse students in the craft of writing, directing, casting, shooting, acting in, editing, and animating their own films. Northwestern University College Preparation Program
Attend summer classes alongside other undergraduate students at one of the most competitive schools in the country. Earn college credits while you live on campus and experience life there with other outstanding students. Six week and eight week programs are available. The program is highly competitive, so it is advised that you apply early! Deadline is April 11, 2008. Financial aid applications must be received by Feb. 29. Notre Dame Pre-College Programs
A number of programs are offered including the African-American Scholars at Notre Dame, Latino Community Leadership Seminar, and the Global Issues Seminar. There is also a spiritual growth program called ND Vision. Other programs involve architecture, engineering, and physics. If you are interested in Notre Dame you must explore this website. Notre Dame University - Summer Scholars. June 22 to July 5, 2008.
Summer Scholars students spend their time on Notre Dame’s campus participating in an intensive two-week course of study. This summer, 13 academic tracks are offered: Acting for Stage and Film, Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, Business and Entrepreneurship, China’s Transformation, Dante’s Inferno, Film, Life Sciences, Literature, Policy Debate & Public Speaking, Pre-Law, Psychology, Theology, and Voice: Opera and Song. Approximately twenty students are admitted to each of the thirteen tracks. Each track gives students the opportunity to experience small classes under the challenging yet supportive guidance of ND faculty. Application deadline is March 1. The Oxford Edge, Oxford, England, July 3-28, 2007
One of the oldest colleges of Oxford University, Magdalen College, offers a superb academic curriculum in a range of subjects, from which two or three are chosen. The Salk Institute Summer Enrichment Program - June 25 - August 17, 2007.
San Diego’s world acclaimed biomedical research institute offers a summer high school enrichment program and summer internships. These are the kind of experiences colleges and scholarships love! United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar

The University of St. Andrews, Scotland, UK Scottish Summer Program, June 28-July 26, 2008.
For juniors or seniors, this 4 week residential pre-college program emphasizes a creative writing curriculum. In addition to mastering poetry, prose and oral presentations, students will take field trips to some of Scotland’s most beautiful and historic sites. Washington University in St. Louis, Architecture Discovery Program
The Architecture Discovery Program gives you the opportunity to learn more about the practice of architecture and to experience its educational process firsthand. As a result, you will be able to make your career choice on a more informed basis. The program runs from Sunday, June 15 through Saturday, June 28, 2008 and July 6 to July 19, 2008. Designed for high school students between their junior and senior year, the program was attended last year by 50 students representing 23 states and every region of the country. Washington University in St. Louis High School Summer Scholars Program
Experience the independence of college life the summer after your junior year in high school. Earn up to seven full college credits, transferable to most accredited colleges and universities. Live in the residence halls for five weeks with fellow scholars. Enjoy a variety of social and cultural opportunities while making new friends from around the world. Choose between two 5-week sessions: June 8-July 12 or July 13-August 15, 2008. Applications to the program received by March 1 will have application fee waived.
