Weekly School Mass
Mass
is celebrated by the student body weekly and on special
occasions. The entire school celebrates Mass at these times
as we strive to stress that St. Augustine is a community
of believers. Mass is celebrated everyday at 7:00 a.m. in
the school chapel, as well as 8 a.m. each Wednesday, unless
a special mass is being celebrated that week. Special Masses
include the opening of the school year, Thanksgiving, Christmas,
Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Holy Days of Obligation, Junior
Day Mass and the Senior Baccalaureate Mass.
Weekly masses are celebrated by Augustinians from the St.
Augustine community, local parish priests, as well as priests
visiting the area. Music is provided by the SAINTS Praise
Band, St. Augustine High School faculty and staff, and other
local musicians. The sacrament of reconciliation is available
each Tuesday during lunchtime on campus for those wishing
to receive it.
The chapel is open all school days from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. From time to time, an individual class instructor may
celebrate a liturgical function such as a Penance Rite or
Mass. The campus ministry team, school chaplain, and all
faculty members, lay and religious, are always available
for spiritual guidance.
