JUNIOR
SERVICE
St.
Augustine High School
New
this year all Christian Service Hours must be turned
in on official agency letterhead
The
theme for Junior Christian Service is “Devotion
to those in need.” During the Junior year, students
must choose ONE non-profit agency and are required to
serve for a minimum of 30 hours. The agency and description
of Christian Service hours must be discussed and approved
by the Campus Minister. This service must be in DIRECT
contact with the people or groups that the agency serves.
Examples of direct service to the poor and needy include
delivering meals to the sick, serving food at homeless
shelters, taking care of children, assisting disabled
individuals at events, spending time with the elderly,
teaching religious education classes or assisting school
aged children in an after-school program.
Each student is invited and encouraged to complete all
or a part of their service work during the summer. The
students must obtain the Campus Ministry approval and
any necessary time sheets and forms before they begin
their work. In addition to the Service Opportunities
which can be found in the Campus Ministry office, there
will also be monthly trips to the Augustinian sponsored
orphanage in La Gloria, Mexico and to St. Vincent de
Paul to serve food to the homeless.
