The theme for Christian service in the Freshman year is “The Saints Community.” 9th grade students must complete a total of 20 hours of Christian Service. Their Christian Service must be spent in service to the community of St. Augustine High School. Assisting teachers, janitorial staff, administrators, coaches, boosters, the Austin Guild, and many other groups or individuals related to the Saints community helps Freshman students take stock in what they are a part of, and truly invest themselves in the community in which they spend much of their time each week.

Each student is invited and encouraged to complete all or a part of their service work during the summer. The students must obtain the Campus Ministry approval and any necessary time sheets and forms before they begin their work. In addition to the Service Opportunities which can be found in the Campus Ministry office, there will also be monthly trips to the Augustinian sponsored orphanage in La Gloria, Mexico and to St. Vincent de Paul to serve food to the homeless.
